Forum Rules

Welcome to the Heart of the Shinomen Forest, a Legend of the Five Rings discussion forum. Our forum is focused on the contributions of the Naga to the collectible card game and tabletop roleplaying game, although we happily encourage discussion of the game in general as well. We encourage topics regarding competitive play, analysis of game mechanics, tactical decision making, and enjoying the game we all love.

Please familiarize yourself with the rules before jumping in. The Heart of the Shinomen Forest is younger than many of the other discussion forums for Legend of the Five Rings, and one of the ways that we intend to distinguish ourselves is by setting high standards. Accordingly, these rules are not inclusive; if you find new and innovative ways to be disruptive or obnoxious, you will be instructed to stop even if there's not a specific rule to cite. On the other hand, none of these rules are unduly burdensome nor hard to follow.

1. All posters are to make an effort to communicate clearly.
Legend of the Five Rings is a global game, and many players, including many fans of the Naga, are not native speakers of English. We do not expect perfection, but we do require that all posts be in reasonably comprehensible English. Obey basic grammar rules, avoid chat-speak abbreviations ("u", "imo", etc.), and remember that caps lock is not ever cruise control for cool.

2. Make posts the right length, but state your opinions as succinctly as possible.
Give us the context we need to understand the point you are making, but don't include unnecessary background or huge walls of text. Do not quote large text blocks to reply to small points; quote only what you are replying to. Don't multi-quote when you don't need to, but do multi-quote to avoid making multiple consecutive posts.

3. All discussion should be both polite and civil.
Trolling, flaming, and swearing is frowned upon. Ad hominem attacks are not acceptable; comment on the ideas rather than insulting or disparaging your fellow players. In particular, attacking anyone (whether a poster here or otherwise) on the basis of their gender, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexuality, or anything else of that nature will be grounds for immediate banning. Don't do that.

4. Whining in any form is forbidden.
It is okay to express dissatisfaction with aspects of the game, the current environment, or specific cards. It is not okay to allow that dissatisfaction to cross into whining. Further, AEG is not intentionally trying to destroy the game, the Naga (or any other clan), or your deck in particular. Personal attacks against AEG employees are grounds for bans.

5. Do not post unless you have something new and worthwhile to say.
Especially for deck construction and strategy posts, we encourage posters to share ideas supported with some analysis and testing. Do not bump posts, "quote for truth", call "first" posts, or make similar posts devoid of content.

6. Do not reveal non-public information.
If you are on a playtest team, or otherwise have non-public knowledge of upcoming AEG products, you may not reveal that information here until it has been officially made public. In accordance with AEG's own forum policy on this issue, posters who violate the confidentiality of future products will be immediately and permanently banned. Please do not make us do this to you.

7. Do not back-seat moderate.
If you feel a post is in violation of these rules, please report it and the site moderators and administrators will take care of it. Do not use red text, which is reserved for moderation.

8. Do have fun!
Enjoy Legend of the Five Rings, the Naga, and these forums. We would like this to be one of the premier discussion forums for the game we all know and love, and that starts with each and every one of you.
